About Us
This national Centre was founded in 2011 with an initial team of 13 leading academics from across 7 UK institutions. Currently the Centre has grown to 14 investigators, 14 associate investigators, circa 65 PhD and MSc students, 18 PDRA's and a management and support team of 14.
CMAC works closely with our industry partners with a shared vision to accelerate the adoption of continuous manufacturing processes, systems and plants for the production of high-value chemical products to higher quality, at lower cost and more sustainably.
By supporting a collaborative, multi-disciplinary programme the Centre aims to:
- Enable the change from batch to fully continuous manufacturing processes for high value chemical products.
- Produce better chemical and pharmaceutical products, at lower cost, more sustainably through transformational change in how particles are manufactured.
- Increase competitiveness of UK chemical manufacturers through reduced costs and higher value products.
“High-value chemicals have been manufactured using the same fundamental processes for centuries, we aim to carry out innovative research, informed by the views of experts and product users, to address the significant technical challenges and barriers to widespread deployment of continuous manufacturing technologies in a range of sectors including pharmaceuticals, fine chemicals, dyes & pigments, energy and food & drink”
