3rd International Symposium on Continuous Manufacturing of Pharmaceuticals took place at the Grange Hotel in London 3-4 October 2018. This prestigious event was co-hosted by CMAC and MIT. It brought together pharmaceutical company end users, suppliers, regulators and academics to look at accelerating adoption of continuous manufacturing for both small molecules and biologic products and how research groups, globally, might collaborate more to help drive this. This was an enormous opportunity to guide the way in which new technologies and new approaches in the pharmaceutical industry can transform quality, cost and service for the benefit of the patient. Some of the speakers and posters presenters also agreed to share their materials post event. You can view the speaker presentations on the website here, and the posters here.
The Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre (CCDC) has joined CMAC as a Tier 2 Member in order to equip scientists in the field of pharmaceutical manufacturing with the tools required to master their structural data. The CCDC maintains and curates the world’s most comprehensive and up-to-date database of small molecule crystal structures. With close to one million crystal structures, the database can be interrogated to address a range of questions in pharmaceutical development and manufacturing. These include assessing the risk of polymorphism of a drug candidate to designing a cocrystal solid form.
CCDC will create a bespoke crystal structure database for CMAC enabling scientists to inform and design continuous manufacturing processes. By automatically linking this novel database with other CMAC data scientists will have an incredible digital design tool to help tackle the challenges of advanced manufacturing. >>More
Funding Announcement: Digital Design and Manufacture of Amorphous Pharmaceuticals (DDMAP)
CMAC are excited to announce the new £1.2M award from EPSRC to lead the new international collaboration for Digital Design and Manufacture of Amorphous Pharmaceuticals (DDMAP).
This award brings together three world-leading research groups from the UK (CMAC, University of Strathclyde), Denmark (CPHarma, University of Copenhagen) and Belgium (CESPE, Ghent University) to deliver a step change in fundamental understanding of amorphous materials that will apply to real industrial challenges in medicines manufacturing. This unique centre will create a dynamic collaboration across Europe that will embrace open science and offer multi-disciplinary and multi-organisational research engagement. .... more
