Strathclyde Personal Interactive Development & Eductional Resource (SPIDER) started development in December 1998 as a web project to convert a single teaching module (class) into an interactive web environment. It evolved to become a complex VLE and online resource management system. It continues to provide administrative and research support systems to the Faculty of Science.
