A Joint International Doctoral Training Centre in Continuous Manufacturing and Crystallisation of Pharmaceuticals was initiated as part of an EPSRC Global Engagements award in 2012/2013. The Centre established links with Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore via workshops and exchanges. We have built on these links, and with support from the University of Strathclyde and established a Collaborativedoctoral training programme which commenced in October 2014. The first year of this unique PhD scheme started with a cohort of 5 students 3 based at the University of Strathclyde and 2 at NTU.
The main research themes of Pharmaceutical Particle Formation, Optimising Pharmaceutical Performance and Multi-Scale Pharmaceutical Systems are being explored via projects at the University of Strathclyde and at NTU. The first cohort of PhDs have commenced the programme of secondments to the partner Universities during late 2016 and early 2017. At the end of September 2016 there was a CMAC SCBE Symposium that was held at TIC, University of Strathclyde where plans for future expansion of the programme were explored.
