Radiation database v2 Monthly actions script updated with all changes required to run (cron now active); further tweaks to temp storage decay and mailer functions. Monthly lab stock sheet generation updated for v2 - partial update to use list of staff->lab numbers until stocks are all udpated with owner data. Archiving sealed sources now gives option to dispose of the source in domestic waste or radiation bin, with appropriate updates to bin_history (via inc_bin_functions). Bug fix for decay of stock first usage for activity date - was only being fired if user made a 'use' action, if they did a 'dilution' or 'probes' as a stock's first use, the activity date adjustment was not being carried out. Abstracted the activity date/decay function to inc_stock_decay and it is now called from stock_usage, stock_usage_dilution and stock_usage_probes. Updated v1 database tempStorage_disposal script to allow for final disposal of temp store waste - updates v1 records and 'block' activity held in v2 systems. Updated stock_usage_probes to disallow empty (0 activity) probes and stock_usage to allow for disposal of 'excess' waste from probe generation.
PHPdocs updated inc_database to include PHPdocs format comments - makes dev in Eclipse show useful info on function params etc. Did same for inc_radiation_functions, inc_bin_functions in radiation database. Will continue to udpate all scripts to include this where relevant.
Migration ran semester 2 export, so all s2 classes now output on the SIPBS disc array in JSON + file zip format for import by VLE team. Also exported all "s1&s2" classes.
Central Data Web Services attended a demo of the soon to be released PEGASUS based web services API. Looks to simplify the process of capturing data sets for use in 'local' departmental systems. In terms of SPIDER, will look to replace all current 'hard coded' integrations such as the /interface/oracle tools with this over time.

Radiation database v2 minor bug fixes to orders tool - department ID was not being stored by PG users. Updated filter to allow RPS to see all their departments orders. Added search tool for RPS, SS and dbm users (searches stocks, bins, monitors and sealed sources). Updated monitor tool to allow for history of calibrations (qv sealed sources leak tests). Monthly 'actions' script - updated to correctly decay/ report on temporary storage items.
Class lists fixed bug in class lists tool that was adding incorrect session value to ID key when adding multiple users to a class list from historic sessions.
phoneGap started to investigate this 'web to phone' framework - an OS tool that allows you to develop 'native' apps in HTML/ Javascript for android, iOS etc. | comment | This Week's Tweaks | Friday 10 June 2011 04:39 pm | Radiation Systems of Work (SoW) updated SoW to use inc_radiation_functions to share labs, sinks etc. in drop down menus. Needs updating to better handle editing rights.
Radiation database v2 bug fixes in: pdf output of order (RP-1); stock history/ disposal rounding/ comparison (standardised on 6 D.P); debug output removed from temp store disposal; access of RPS to all stock; accss of RPS to all orders; fixed student department not saving with orders. Further development of search tool. Added 'view' pages for sealed sources and monitors.
deptWeb updated to remove links to 'old' SIPBS web content management to non-admin staff.
PD DB updated central data sync to use live 'PDDD' system. Made changes to student record and supervisor request form live. Updated student record to show local data alongside central data in response to user requests (allows for comparison). Will need to liaise with the centre to determine how to resolve data discrepencies c.f. change of supervisor request.
PDP updating 'credit' status now updates the date of saving instead of leaving original save date.
Workshop job tool Priorities option now in place to allow jobs to be sorted/ highlight important/ critical jobs. Search improved.
Exam paper database bug fix - report of questions per exam instead of question bank per exam. Home page updated to use colour coding of exam/question bank status.
Class reviews Co-ordinator can now release review to other staff prior to full data availability.
Migration Semester 2 backup script tested and ready for roll-out for central VLE team - need to liaise to get agreed roll-out date.

Total page visits for May were slightly up on April, but with end of exams and the beginning of the summer exodus the downward trend will continue. One minor outage of just under an hour on 13th May due to the zip/acp issue (resolved) puts a blemish on our otherwise 100% uptime in 2011 [technically SPIDER was still 'up', the slowdown made it unusuable for that hour ;) ]

Minor bug fixes/ tweaks to a few tools (extra fields for monitors, sealed sources; pdf view of delivery note for new stocks). Search tool suggested and development in progress. Linked to main staff tools page for non-SIPBS staff.
SIPBS website/ Research Admin tools updated staff page to fix bug in showing extended publications list - was an error causing staff with shared publications to have their list limited to only 1st author publications if they had also selected a set of 'key publications'. Updated the key publications tool to allow ordering by Author, Title, Journal as well as impact factor. Updated REF tools to allow staff to edit/delete their own publications. Updated myREF page to use user setttings, fixed display bugs/ anomolies and fixed width DIVs.
questionnaire/ PGDE created a PGDE cluster to aid differentiation between general 'education' classes/degrees and the PGDE course, mainly to allow for automated class evaluations to be created in the PGDE cluster without impacting the education cluster. Updated auto-evaluation tools to account for move from education cluster to PGDE cluster. Migrated ~200 classes from education to PGDE.
PDP updated PDP to allow staff to mark PDP as 'Resit, no action required' for students who completed their PDP activity in a previous session and are not required to do so in the resit year. Updated staff PDP progress tool to account for this change.
Migration added a questionnaire question export to Moodle XML format. Only exports questions at present, requires testing and consideration of whether the questionnaire structure/ meta data needs exporting in addition to questions.
Workshop job tool Integrated with asset tool - asset register updated with a 'repair' field to allow recording of repair history. Refinements to inerface including 'new jobs', output of pdf with 'works' message (e.g. item broken do not use) for printing and attaching to equipment under/due for repair.
